when bad habits steer you down the path you didn’t know you were taking
I’ve had to take a bit of time to reflect to work out what’s gone wrong.
I had so many positive habits which were helping me commit to and pursue a healthier life but lately I’ve really noticed that I’ve dropped the ball. One of the things I realised that’s changed between the last time this happened and now is my lack of a blog post.
So here I am. time to dissect it.
It’s been way too long since my last blog post. Needless to say, I’ve been busy in my final year of university, and having recently completed all the required work, my other projects have come into focus. Not only this blog - but all of the healthy gains I had made up until this point.
But I realised I stopped being healthy a while ago.
I think back to the start of 2022 (or at least the end of 2021) and remember how fit, healthy, energetic, mindful and full clarity I had - but these traits have eroded so slowly throughout 2022 that I hadn’t even realised it. I’ve realised that I’ve stopped:
- Meditating regularly
- Exercising as much as I was twelve months ago
- Healthier eating habits
- Drinking more alcohol
- Not practicing gratitude
- Not living up to my minimalist values
Regretfully, this list is too long. Six entries too long - so this blog post for me is about renewal and setting the tone moving forward. And I’m going to be making a few changes.
What I’ve learned is how important it is to never stop focusing on what drives forward movement in our lives. As I sit here, albeit with a bit of a cold, I’m wishing that throughout this year I had noticed the path I had steered down led to this point. So from now on, I need to promise myself to be more forthcoming with my own thoughts and feelings - and put them in this blog.
This is all of me - signalling renewal moving forward. Personally, it’s time for a refreshing change.
